Haluk
Soygür a graduate of Istanbul Technical University received his B.Sc.
degree in 1981 and after two years of research into Hydrodynamics of
commercial small craft he gained the degree of M.Sc in 1983. His
military service was spent in the repair of small military craft of
Turkish Navy from 1983 to 1985. |

Between 1985 and 1987, he was employed
as a quality control engineer by DESA shipyard in Istanbul. In 1988 he
established his private business in the field of design, construction,
technical control, repair and maintenance of yachts and commercial vessels
ranging from 30 to 95 feet in length. He has designed and constructed
several vessels within this range.
Being a member of the Chamber of Turkish
Naval Architects & Marine Engineers, he has been authorized in 1997 to
manage a classified Marine Engineering Office. He has been working as an
independent surveyor since 1989 for several insurance companies, legal and
government institutions.
Credidentials:
- Member of Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors "SAMS"
Florida/USA since 2001, achieved the AMS#748 status with Yachts and Small
Craft" designation in June 2002.
- Member of International Institute of Marine Surveying (UK/F), elected for
full membership (MIIMS 988s) in small craft in October 2005.
- Nominated as affiliate inspector for certification of small craft
according to EU directive 94/25/EC by IMCI Belgium.
- Completed "Yacht Damage & Claims Handling" training (SUNNY
College/NY-USA) in April 2006.

Ömer Koray, an honours graduate of Merchant Marine Academy in
1981, has served the merchant navy as third, second and chief officer.
He became an oceangoing master in 1987. Starting with 1989, he embarked
on yachting activities and has since built and operated yachts of
various types (wood, steel and composites) and sizes (from 60 to 112
feet). |
In
1992 and 1993 he made voyages throughout Greece, Turkey, Indian and Atlantic
oceans, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia for gathering information and
photography for the publisher of APA Insight Travel Guides.
Between
1994 and 1995 he was the project manager and operator of luxury charter
yachts of Karadeniz Yachting. His most recent project was the construction
of a 107 feet composite sailing yacht, designed by Marc Lombard. With the
completion of this project Ömer has gained a sound reputation for his
experience and knowledge in composites, systems design and rigging.
He
started collaborating with Haluk Soygür in survey and consultancy activities
in 1998 and he became a SA member of Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors
in 2001 and achieved the AMS® status with "Yachts , small crafts"
designation in June 2002. |
